How to Turn Off Now Bar in One UI 7 on Samsung Galaxy Phones

What is the Now Bar in One UI 7?

Samsung’s latest One UI 7 introduces the Now Bar, a handy pill-shaped icon at the bottom of the lock screen. This feature provides live updates for ongoing tasks like:

  • Timer

  • Audio and video recording

  • Charging status

  • Map directions

  • Music playback

The Now Bar is similar to Live Activities on iPhones, making it a prominent feature. However, some users find it intrusive and prefer to remove or hide it.

Can You Turn Off the Now Bar in One UI 7?

Unfortunately, Samsung does not provide an option to disable the Now Bar completely. The only way to completely remove it would be rolling back to One UI 6. However, you can hide the Now Bar from the Always-On Display and disable specific elements to minimize its presence.

How to Hide or Disable the Now Bar in One UI 7

While you cannot remove the Now Bar entirely, you can reduce its functionality using these methods:

Method 1: Hide Now Bar on Always-On Display

If you don’t want the Now Bar to appear on your Always-On Display, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Samsung phone.

  2. Scroll down and select Lock screen and AOD.

  3. Tap on Always-On Display.

  4. Turn off the Show Now Bar toggle.

Once you disable this setting, the Now Bar will no longer appear on the Always-On Display.

Method 2: Disable Now Bar Modules

To prevent certain elements of the Now Bar from appearing on your lock screen, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Go to Lock screen and AOD > Now Bar.

  3. Under Live notifications, turn off toggles for all unwanted options.

  4. Disable the Media player and Current mode toggles at the bottom.

Once these options are disabled, the Now Bar will only appear in limited instances, such as when charging your phone or during voice recordings.

Conclusion

The Now Bar is one of the most anticipated features in One UI 7. However, it’s understandable that some users might want to turn it off after the initial excitement. While Samsung doesn’t provide an option to completely remove the Now Bar, the methods above can help you minimize its presence. Hopefully, future updates will bring an option to disable it entirely.
